Mechanization of the Indian Army began in 1938, and a need was felt for formal institutionalized training for the Armoured Corps. The Cavalry and now the Armoured Corps has its alma mater as the Armoured Corps Centre and School; which is the seat of learning for all disciplines of mechanized warfare.
