Lt Gen AJ Singh, VSM



1. Lt Gen AJ Singh, VSM was commissioned into Remount Veterinary Corps in Feb 1982 and assumed the appointment of 6th Director General Remount Veterinary Services (DG RVS) on 30 Jun 2016.

2. The General officer graduated from Punjab Agri University, Ludhiana in 1981 with Honours. After serving with Deptt of Animal Husbandry, Punjab for a short duration of 04 months, he was commissioned in the Indian Army on 26 Feb 1982.

3. During his long and illustrious career in the Army, General AJ Singh has held a range of significant and prestigious appointments in Indian Army which include Commandant, Adv Fd Vet Hosp in J&K, Brig RVS HQ Eastern Command and holding the distinguished command of an Equine Breeding Stud of Army and Addl DG RVS at Dte Gen RVS, QMG Branch, IHQ of MoD.

4. The General Officer is a keen sportsman. He is an accomplished horseman of international repute and has represented the country in equestrian events at international events. Lt Gen AJ Singh, VSM has been awarded with several honours and awards which include two Chief of Army Staff Commendations and two Army Commander’s Commendations in addition to various other trophies and awards. He was a National Champion of Eventing in equestrian on numerous occasions, winner of Bronze medal at Asia Pacific Equestrian Championship 1995 and Bronze medalist of Eventing (Equestrian) in XIII Asian Games, Bangkok 1998. He was the National Coach of medal winning Indian Equestrian teams for Asiad 2002 and 2006. He still continues with his equestrian sports and is an avid golfer.

5. Befitting his professional caliber, ingenuity & innovative contributions for advancement of Veterinary Sciences, the Gen Officer has been conferred with the prestigious Vishisht Seva Medal by the President of India on Republic Day 2015.
