HISTORY

RVC traces its history to as far back as 1779 but the recorded history of the Centre is available from 1920 only. Army Veterinary School functioned at Poona till 1929 before it moved to Ambala. The Centre as a trg est was re-organised at Ambala on 01 Dec 1942, later moved to Sabathu in May 1947 and finally to Gillespie Line at Meerut on 17 Apr 1948, the present location in British Infantry Lines. On amalgamation of Mil Farms with the Corps and the merger of Army Equitation School from Saugar, Army Veterinary School from Ambala and Mil Farm School from Meerut, the designation of the Centre was changed to RVFC Centre and School. On bifurcation and separation of Mil Farms in 1960, the Centre was re-designated as RVC Centre and School. The Dog Trg Faculty came into existence as an integral part of the Centre on 01 Mar 1960.
