AWWA - An Overview

AWWA has been selected and nominated as a major partner by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MOSJE) to undertake assistive devices camps and ready to use and tailor made appliances/equipment in the far flung areas of Jammu & Kashmir and North Eastern region of India.

A core focus of AWWA is Early Childhood Education. Proper and systematic Early Childhood Education is vital for the future of our children. A number of Shaurya Army Pre Schools (SAPS) have been created to provide best of quality education to our children in various military stations.

AWWA also supports nation building efforts and towards this purpose it has extended a valuable support to earthquake and floods stricken victims. It has worked as an effective interface between Indian Army and other NGOs.

Care for the widows of the Army is also a core focus of AWWA. It has instituted Brave Hearts Empowerment Project (BHEP) for this purpose. AWWA does not merely recognize society’s debt to the brave soldiers who have made the supreme sacrifice of their lives in the service of our country but also pledges that the irreparable loss for the families will not leave them isolated. A conscious effort to ameliorate the sufferings of the bereaved families is being undertaken.

AWWA is empathetic in its concern for the welfare and empowerment of its members. This translates into individual skill building through various courses run at the Vocational Training Centres ranging from computer education, stitching, cooking & baking, language classes and knowledge training in maternal health care, first aid, pre and post natal child care, inoculation and so forth. Patient welfare and motivation is carried out by ladies and an important initiative in this direction is PRERNA. Prerna is a cancer support group at R&R Hospital, Delhi which gives a valuable emotional support and guidance to cancer patients of our armed forces.

AWWA has also set up an Environmental Committee to make a drive for supplementing existing station efforts to enhance environment awareness and make them no waste zones.

AWWA has stood the test of the times and has been a great force in reckoning. AWWA has grown in strength and spirit through the last 43 years. It has forged a solid support system, thus giving the soldier the confidence to effectively perform his duty towards the country, with the certainty of assured welfare of his family.
