The Directorate of Indigenisation will perform all the administrative and technical functions as applicable for smooth functioning of the Directorate of indigenisation and its DSWs. Detailed functions are -:

Functions of Directorate of Indigenisation

1.        Function as a nodal point in the Integrated Headquarters of MOD (Army) for indigenisation of spare parts/ assemblies / sub-assemblies through EME/Ordnance/Trade.

2.        Draft policies on Indigenisation and promulgate them after approval of the Director General of EME.
 
3.        Act as repository of all indigenisation related information with the assistance of DSWs and concerned AHSP of DGQA.

4.        Process cases for "Import Clearance" for import of items as per laid down conditions. However, Ordnance will still be the agency for procurement.
 
5.        Process cases for CFA Sanction, DP Extension and regularization of Supply Orders.
 
6.        Development of sources for indigenisation and their registration.

7.        Monitor the progress on indigenisation being done through trade by close liaison with the manufacturer through DSWs.
