Director General Armed Forces Medical Services
The Directorate General Armed Forces
Medical Services is an apex organization under Min of Defence,
headed by a Lt Gen/equivalent officer of Navy or Air Force, the
Directorate General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS),
coordinates the medical services of the Army, Navy and Air Force. He
is the cadre controlling authority of all officers of the medical
services of Army, Navy and Air Force and the civilians employed in
various Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) units. He is advisor to
MoD on matters pertaining to health of the Armed Forces.
Role. Detailed functions
of the DGAFMS are enumerated in the Regulations for the Medical
Services of the Armed Forces (RMSAF):2010(Revised Version).
