Jammu & Kashmir.  239 Army columns are deployed for Op MEGH RAHAT alongwith 80 Medical Teams. A total of 57,577 persons have been evacuated. 1,622 persons have been evacuated by air amd 9,550 persons have been provided medical aid. In Srinagar, the Army has deployed additional 89 BAUT columns. So far more than 9,000 civilians have been rescued from Srinagar and 2,000 persons have been provided shelter in BB Cantonment. 

 

On 09 Sep 14, 16 heptrs of the Army flew 82 sorties to induct approx 20 tonnes. 271 persons were evacuated by the heptrs.

 

Resources being mov to Srinagar on 10 Sep including 30,000 liters of water, food items, 1,000 blankets, 100 tents and water filled jerricans.

 

To ensure communication in the affected areas, the Army had already provided satellite phones to the civ administration. Additional nine satellite phones and 100 Mobile Cell Communication Sets are planned to be distributed to civilian officials on 10 Sep for coord the relief effort. 10 STD booths are planned to be set up for the people to communicate. Also 30 generator sets with mobile charging stations are being air lifted from Chandigarh to Srinagar on 10 Sep 14. In addition, Aircel is being assisted to revive mobile services from tower at Barzula and satellite connectivity is being provided to the mobile BTS of BSNL lifted from Kargil to BB Cantt.
