General Officer Commanding-in-Chief South Western Command
Lieutenant General Gyan Bhushan, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, VSM
1. Lt Gen Gyan Bhushan, UYSM, AVSM, VSM assumed the appt of GOC-in-C South Western Comd on 01 Nov 2011.
2. An alumnus of Sainik School Tilaiya, he joined NDA, Pune in 1970 and was commissioned into MAHAR Regiment on 23 Dec 1973.
3. The General offr is a graduate from the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and has done the prestigious SC, HC and NDC Courses.
4. During his long service career, he has held a variety of sterling and balanced portfolio of Command, Staff, Instructional and foreign assignments. The General Officer has commanded an Infantry Battalion, a Mountain Brigade, a Mountain Division and a Corps in CI / CT Operations. He has been Defence Attaché Kazakhstan, Commander, Junior Command Wing, Army War College and also commanded the prestigious Indian Military Training Team at Bhutan. Prior to taking over as GOC-in-C, South Western Comd, he was posted as DG SD at IHQ of MoD (Army).
5. The General officer has been honoured with COAS CC, VSM, AVSM, UYSM and PVSM.
