Amenities in the Campus

CSD

The canteen is well stocked and works on self-service system. The existing CSD inventory has been enhanced to cater for all needs.

Libraries

The Central Library has a stock of approximately 1,10,000 books and caters for books on various subjects including technical books and periodicals. The Officers Mess Library contains approximately 5000 books for general reading and periodicals / newspapers. The Children’s Library at Officers Institute is well stocked and has variety of books on all subjects pertaining to children.

CME is resplendent with diverse flora and fauna. Three fresh water lakes have been created in CME under the Wet Land Development Project. These along with plantation & landscaping around, have improved flora and fauna & climate of the Campus. A beautiful Walking Plaza has been made alongside the lake. Besides this, about 25 acres of Herbal Garden has been developed in CME. A beautiful scenic garden has been created in the Middle lake. The lake area has been declared as “Sarvatra Bird Sanctuary”. Wet land birds such as Ducks, Storks, Moorhen & Herons flock to enjoy the rich habitat of these small lakes. The CME wetland harbours a large population of Painted Storks, Spoonbills, Ibis & other resident birds throughout the year & important wintering place for hundreds a migratory birds, some of which take a break in the CME wetland before moving further South.


The Campus houses institutional buildings, residential buildings & administrative facilities. The following major facilities exist at CME.

Army Rowing Node. The eight lane rowing channel located at the North of the Campus is an engineering marvel. With roads on both sides it is frequented by residents who enjoy walking along. A magnificent viewer’s gallery at the finishing point, a boat shed, hostel for the oarsmen and a state of the art gym make this a perfect venue for conduct of events. Many a National & International rowing events are conducted here.

Corps of Engineers Museum. The Museum houses some of the antique machinery & engineer plant of vintage pertaining to the Corps of Engineers besides the Campus Railway Station which has ceased to function.

Corps of Engineers Archives. The archive is the repository of the Corps History. The archives besides maintaining records of historical significance also carried out preservation of the same.

Officers Institute. Set in beautiful surroundings, the Institute houses a good restaurant, bar and a swimming pool. It is surrounded by a plethora of sports facilities including a Cricket ground.

Harkirat Singh Open Air Theatre. Named after the legendary Sapper, Maj Gen Harkirat Singh, the open air theatre screens the latest English and Hindi film every week for Officers, JCOs/OR and Civilians on specified week days. The eateries & stalls which get set up around the theatre add to the unique movie experience.

CME Shopping Complex. A shopping complex with more than 28 shops, restaurants, eateries, a well stocked Canteen Stores Department (CSD) outlet, a Bank, ATMs and Gas Agency caters to all daily needs of the inhabitants and attracts the residents every evening.

Surabhi. A shop catering to all household requirements ranging from clothes, shoes to decorative items and kitchenware is being run by the College at shopping complex.
