Lt Gen Shantanu Dayal, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, DCOAS (CD&S)    

 

Lieutenant General Shantanu Dayal is an Infantry Officer commissioned in Garhwal Rifles in 1984. He is an alumnus of National Defence Academy,Pune Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, Defence Service Staff College, Ooty, College of Defence Management, Secunderabad and National Defence College, Delhi.  

Lieutenant General Shantanu Dayal took part in active operations in Sri Lanka, Jammu & Kashmir and North Eastern States. The General Officer Commanded a Garhwal Rifles unit in Jammu & Kashmir, a Mountain Brigade in North East States, an  Infantry Division in Jammu & Kashmir and a  Corps in   North Eastern States. He has also served in Rashtriya Rifles as well as in Iraq and Kuwait on United Nations Mission. He has been an Instructor at Commando Wing, GSO 3  in an Infantry Brigade, GSO 2 and GSO 1 in Military Operations Directorate  at Army Headquarters, Col GS in an Infantry Division, Deputy Commander in a Mountain Brigade, BGS (Operations) in a Command Headquarters, DDG (D&V), ADG (Proc) and DG DC&W at Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Army).     

The General Officer was Mentioned in Despatch in Sri Lanka, awarded Sena Medal in J&K, Vishisht Seva Medal in Assam,  Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in Jammu & Kashmir and Uttam Yuddh Seva Medal in North Eastern States.

The General Officer is married to Mrs Simmi Dayal who is an Electronic and Communication Engineer. They are blessed with two children, the daughter Shaaina Dayal is an Electronic and Communication Engineer and a Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Business School, USA and the son  Shaonak Dayal, is an  Engineering Graduate from Netaji Subash Institute of Technology , Delhi University.

Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar, AVSM, YSM**, VSM, DCOAS (Strat)

Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Yudh Seva Medal**, Vishisht Seva Medal assumed the appointment of  Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Strategy), Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Army) on 01 July 2022.

The General Officer is an alumnus of National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla.  He was commissioned into 1 ASSAM REGIMENT in June 1985.  He commanded 59 Rashtriya Rifles Battalion (ASSAM), an Infantry Brigade and an Infantry Division on the Line of Control.  He has also commanded the highly active White Knight Corps.  He has held the appointments of Additional Director General Military Intelligence and Director General Military Intelligence at Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Army) prior to taking over his current appointment.  The Gen offr had the privilege of assuming the mantle of the Col of the Regt of Assam Regt and Arunachal Scouts on 01 Mar 2021.   

The General Officer has held various staff and instructional appointments in Infantry School, Mhow, and United Nations Sector Senior Operations Officer in Cambodia, Indian Army Training Team Lesotho, Military Secretary Branch and Brigadier General Staff in the Eastern Theatre.

The Officer has attended Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, Higher Command Course, Mhow and the National Defence College, New Delhi.  He has also attended courses on ‘Cooperative Security in South Asia’ in Sri Lanka and ‘United Nations Senior Mission Leaders Course’ in Egypt.  His military papers have been published in a number of professional journals.

The Gen Officer is married to Mrs Asha Suchindra, Chairperson, Prerna who is an educationalist. The couple has two children. Their son Abhay is working in Singapore in finance sector and daughter Dr Ananya is pursuing MS in SMS College, Jaipur.

The General Officer is an amateur half marathon runner, golf enthusiast and practices yoga regularly.
