ADMISSION PROCEDURE

Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for each course is given in IGNOU Prospectus in terms of educational qualifications, age and experience criteria. The eligibility conditions are different for each course and have to be checked from Prospectus.

An individual whilst in active service is required to seek formal written permission from the Commanding Officer for ‘Pursuing Higher Education under provision of Army Order 89/80.

Prospectus

IGNOU prospectus can be procured from nearest formation Headquarters (IAEP Regional or Study Centre) on cash payment.

Prospectus can be obtained through registered post from nearest IAEP Regional Centre (HQ Command). The individual can submit an application along with the Demand Draft prepared in favour of ‘IAEP Regional Centre, (Concerned Command HQ)’ payable at the place of HQ Command. The list of IAEP Regional Centres has been given.

Admission

The academic session commences in the month of January and July each year. The admission process for these courses starts in March and September every year for the July and January sessions respectively. The admission forms can be submitted at IAEP Regional and Study Centres.

For MBA, qualifying in IGNOU, OPEN MAT held in February (for July session) and in August (for admission in next Jan), is a pre-requisite.

For B. Ed programme, qualifying IGNOU Entrance Exam held in August for the January session is mandatory.

Admission Documents

The admission form whilst being forwarding to be accompanied by fees as prescribed in the Prospectus. The following documents need to be enclosed alongwith the admission form :-

  • CTC of Date of Birth Certificate either a Matriculation Certificate with Date of Birth duly endorsed or if the individual is not Xth class passed, then the Date of Birth certificate issued by the Unit based on service records.

  • CTC of the Marks Sheet of the qualifying exam.

  • For admission of Dependents – Attach a certificate giving dependent’s particulars and the relationship with eligible personnel. An attested photograph of the dependent is to be affixed.

  • Two (02) latest unattested passport size photos – one (01) each on Admission Form and Identity Card.

  • The complete address needs to be filled and in case of Military Stations, mention the Army Pin Code.

  • The medium in which the applicants desires to pursue the course – receive the study material, write the assignments and exam, needs to be clearly mentioned.

  • The details filled in the form should commensurate with supporting documents including service documents in case of serving personnel.

  • The applicant should retain photocopies of Admission Forms, Re-registration Forms, etc. alongwith post office receipts.

Admission Procedure. Once an admission is granted, the IAEP Regional Centre will forward a confirmation letter and candidate’s IGNOU Identity Card. The admission status can be verified by the applicant at ignou.ac.in/ student zone/ admission/ admission status.

Study Material. Study Material is provided to the candidates by IGNOU through concerned IAEP Regional Centre. Study Material can also be downloaded from the IGNOU website after confirmation of registration.

Change of Centre. The candidates have the facility for change of IAEP Regional/ Study Centre, on move due to permanent posting to different command zone. The same has to be applied to IAEP Regional/ Study Centre where the individual has been enrolled.

Change of Medium. Changes pertaining to medium of instruction can be made by the candidate during the course of instruction. The same has to be intimated to concerned IAEP Regional or Study Centre.

Re-registration. A candidate is required to re-register for the next semester/ session for course having more than one semester of duration. Re-registration is done in the month of March for July session and in September for January session.

Re-admission. If a student fails to complete the credit requirement in full or part within the maximum span period prescribed or fails to meet attendance criteria in practical classes, then the candidate will be required to seek re-admission.

Training Move. The move for attending counselling sessions, workshops, contact classes and examinations for the first time from unit to Regional/ Study Centre where candidate is enrolled will be treated as Training Move for serving personnel of Indian Army. The same will be allowed only within the Command zone. This facility will not be available to other categories.

Refund of Fees. Fees once paid are not refunded under any circumstances after the admission is granted, nor will it be adjustable against any other programme of IAEP. The fees will be refunded through account payee cheque, in case the admission is not granted.
