Detachment at Thimpu This detachment is located at Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan at a height of 7950 ft. A medical specialist, medical officers and a dental surgeon are also located at Thimphu in The Indo Bhutan Friendship Hosp (IBFH). 
 
Civil Amenities at Haa
  • Civil Market At Haa Haa has a small market where provisions of daily necessities are available. It also has a weekly market day (haat) for fresh vegetables , fruits and local produce. 

  • Non CSD The non CSD at Haa caters for the requirement of textiles, readymade garments and toys etc.

  • Grocery The grocery run by HQ IMTRAT supplies fresh vegetable, fruits, condiments and other items of daily use.

  • Printing Press A printing press was established in 1989 to cater for the printing requirements of all personnel at IMTRAT.

  • Dry Cleaning Plant A dry cleaning plant was installed at Haa dzong in1990 to cater for the dry cleaning requirements.

  • Postal Facilities Postal facilities at IMTRAT are provided by field post offices (FPO) located at HQ and all other detachments. These FPOs also provide saving bank facilities and all types of saving schemes. Newspapers and periodicals are not available in local market except in Thimpu. However, these can be subscribed through the Field Post Offices.

  • Cinema There is a cinema hall at Haa, where feature films are screened for the IMTRAT and the Royal Bhutan Army personnel and the local population. In addition to the Hindi films, English and Bhutanese films are also screened, depending upon the demand and availability.

  • Library Library facilities exist at Haa. The library is adequately stocked with large number of books and periodicals. This facility has also been extended to the local population.

  • TV and Cable Network Facilities of TV and cable network with a large number of channels, have been made available at Haa from 1999. Cable TV facilities also exist at all the other administrative detachments.

  • Internet Internet services have been commissioned in Bhutan since Jul 99. An internet kiosk exists at IMTRAT for personal use on payment basis. The rates are nominal, though not as cheap as in India.

Educational Facilities at Haa

IMTRAT Garrison School For the children between the ages of three to ten years, this team runs a children school. The school is situated at Haa Dzong and is managed by a school committee under the patronage of the Commandant. The school is recognised by Royal Govt of Bhutan. The other details are as follows :-
  • Classes The school caters for children from nursery to Class VI.

  • Session The school session is from early Mar to early Dec. The academic session commences in April The half year exams commence in mid Jun and the annual exam are in early Dec.

  • Syllabi CBSE syllabi is followed by the school. Medium of instruction is English.

  • Dress Dress for children of the school is white shirt, red `v' necked sweater and grey flannel trousers. During summer, cotton trousers in grey colour may be worn. Girls and boys wear navy blue blazers in winters. White pants and white canvas shoes are required to be worn on Fridays. 

  • Subjects The subjects taught are Maths English, Social Studies, Gen Science and Hindi.

YCS Thimphu This school located at Thimphu, runs classes from I to XII Std. The school is recognised by Royal Govt of Bhutan.

Ugyen Dorji High School One junior high school from class one to eight run by Royal Govt of Bhutan is also located at Haa Dzong.
 
Sports at Haa

Golf An excellent golf course of 18 holes is available at Haa Dzong. Golf sets are provided by the institute to a member for the first six months at a nominal charge.

Angling Good trout fishes are available in Bhutan. The officers` Institute has two fishing rods. However, spinners are to be purchased by the members. A few fishing licenses have been obtained by the Institute for which members may contact the Institute Secretary.

Badminton There is an indoor badminton court at Haa. While the shuttle cocks are available at the institute, members are advised to bring their own racquets.
 
Squash There is a squash court in Haa. Squash balls are provided by the institute. Gym A gym exists for use by all ranks and their families of IMTRAT and the Royal Bhutan Army. Riding A riding club has been established at Haa with effect from June 2002. The membership is open to all civilians also, as a goodwill gesture, besides the personnel of IMTRAT and the Royal Bhutan Army at payment of nominal charges for membership of the club. Para Sailing A para sailing club has been established at Haa with effect from June 2002. The membership is open to all personnel of IMTRAT and the Royal Bhutan Army.
