Indian Army is celebrating the 240th Corps of Engineers Day on 18 Nov 2020. The Corps of Engineers provides combat engineering support, develops infrastructure for armed forces and other defence organisations and maintains connectivity along our vast borders besides providing succour to populace during natural disasters. These tasks are executed through four pillars of the Corps - Combat Engineers, Military Engineer Service, Border Road Organisation and Military Survey.


In the year gone by, the Corps of Engineers has had many stellar achievements. They have been at the forefront of development of infrastructure across the country including operational works in Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh. The Atal Tunnel, inaugurated by the Prime Minister is an amazing feat of engineering completed with extreme military precision by BRO. The Sappers were also at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19 establishing quarantine centres and creating COVID response teams. The Corps has also excelled in carrying out innovations for enhancing operational preparedness and in the support of civil administration for disaster management.
